Hi, I'm Daniel "Danny" Beason, an Instructional Design Leader based in Bowie, MD. I am part learning designer, part theater kid, all in on excellent education.
I design learning experiences that are clear, creative, and built to last. With over seven years of experience in higher education, I’ve led major projects, including a complete LMS transition and a campus-wide course quality program. I love transforming complex goals into thoughtful, engaging learning experiences that actually work.
What sets me apart? I bring a creative edge shaped by years in the arts, combined with a strategic mind for systems and outcomes. I earned my MFA in Acting and spent years performing on stages in New York and DC. Now I use those same storytelling and audience skills to keep learners at the center, making education feel less like a checklist and more like an experience.
Learning should be innovative, but it should also be a little bit magical. That’s the kind I like to build.
Each project featured here reflects my approach to learning design: thoughtful, collaborative, and learner-centered. From large-scale initiatives to hands-on course builds, these works showcase how I blend strategy, creativity, and a commitment to accessibility to make learning meaningful and memorable.

Quality Review Program Development
The Quality Review Program was developed over the course of a year through close collaboration with faculty, staff, and academic leadership. Because of its high visibility, it quickly became a top priority for the center. I led the project through multiple phases: research and data collection, framework development, peer review and revisions, a beta test with selected courses, and finally a full campus-wide rollout.
I led the training strategy and faculty support for a two-year university-wide LMS transition from Blackboard to Brightspace. My work focused on cross-departmental collaboration, content development, and adoption support to ensure a smooth and accessible rollout. I was responsible for the development of the multi-year training plan, acting as a super administrator, designing and developing homepage banners, and maintaining the front side of Brightspace during and after the transition. The team I lead received training from D2L Brightspace directly and then developed more intense training for our faculty resulting 80 hours of training sessions over the course of the transition.
All design, visual elements and content were created, research and compiled by me. The Catholic University of America logo and shield, as well as the Brightspace by D2L logo, are the property of their respective organizations. These branded elements were removed where possible to respect ownership and usage rights.
